But there are GIANTS in the land!
I don’t know about you, but the first three months of 2025 have been difficult. There is a palpable tension in the atmosphere. The hopes and dreams of 2024 have been put to rest, with finality. Doubt and disbelief seem like houseguests that have overstayed their welcome and refuse to leave. Yes, we are in a transition season…in our nation, in every sphere of worldly influence, and especially in the spiritual realm. But when will we cross over into the destiny God has promised us? A desire that many of us have been longing for with great expectation and travailing.
My feelings of hope deferred and weariness in believing for a breakthrough lead me to think about when the Israelites were in the wilderness and Moses sent 12 spies to scout out the land they were about to enter. Joshua and Caleb returned saying the land was good, that giants were there, but they were confident that under God’s protection, the people would easily overcome any resistance. Unfortunately, the other 10 spies did not agree. Comparing themselves to nothing but grasshoppers in the sight of the mighty warriors, sure to be defeated if they tried to advance. (The Book of Numbers, chapters 13 and 14).
That fear and intimidation caused the Israelites to wander in the desert for 40 years before finally entering the Promised Land. So, I cannot help but think, are similar feelings/mindsets about the “giants” in our lives keeping us from all that the Lord has for us?
For example, reason and human logic can be common enemies that war against faith. Often the Kingdom of God is referred to as the upside-down Kingdom, because God’s ways are often not like humans’ ways. He is the God of mystery, possessing all-knowing wisdom that is beyond our comprehension.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.” -Isaiah 55: 8-9
But abandoning our instinct to self-preserve, the need to feel prepared for what is coming, to seek insight and details of future happenings, can be one of the greatest giants of them all. But true love trusts. Faith waits with confidence. God is not a man that He would lie. His timing is always perfect. It is the waiting without knowing that wears on one’s soul.
Which brings us back to doubt and disbelief. Mindsets that are a product of fear and intimidation, which are emotions born from self-reliance and a lack of trust in God’s faithfulness. As soon as you assume the burden to fight those battles alone, within your own human strength and inexperienced strategies, you will surely foresee failure in your future. The 10 spies that brought the bad report, spread their fearful and disbelieving attitudes to the entire nation of Israel, delaying the victorious and a prosperous life God would have delivered them into, if they had only listened to Joshua and Caleb.
Disbelief is the strongest giant of them all. One that must be defeated and viewed for what it is, a liar. A puffed-up bully that is based in human insecurity and weakened self-effort. But when you choose to partner with faith, with belief, you become as mighty as David, with his sling and stones. David ran toward Goliath with no armor (human protection), no military training (man’s logic and strategy), and he was small in stature and poorly equipped (self-reliance and human strength). But what he did have was faith. David refused to be intimidated, not because he was great, but because God would be the one to deliver the giant into his hands, for the battle was the Lord’s. And David did what an army of trained, rugged, experienced warriors refused to do.
So, I pose this question to you as I have been pondering it in my own heart as well. How will you face the giants of fear, intimidation, and disbelief in your life right now? How must you shift your mindset from self-reliance and human logic, and return to believing that the Almighty God of Angel Armies in leading the charge? May the Holy Spirit bring you peace and deliverance today. Your promise is within reach, and there is no giant that the Lord cannot take out with once simple swipe of His hand. Be blessed beloved.
*** On the heels of publishing my new book, “Breaking the Power of Dis,” I will be offering a two-part online discussion group, you can find the link to join on the Kingdom Mindset Global mobile app. You will not want to miss these two sessions, as I will go into more details about the oppressive nature of dis-feelings such as disbelief, disappointment, discouragement, discontentment and many more, as well as hearing from participants about their freedom stories, based on this spiritual revelation! April 24th and May 8th at 6:30pm CST.
With love,
